When hardly anyone expected it, a slightly wild idea became a reality — and what a reality it turned out to be. In February 2025, the very first Bruxelles Festival du Fil burst onto the scene in the Belgian capital, in a riot of pink, tangled threads and enough textile passion to set the needles tingling. For one whole weekend, the hearts of knitting, sewing, crochet and embroidery lovers beat as one.
Of course, there were a few hiccups and seam rippers called into emergency action. The biggest challenge? So much overflowing enthusiasm that the room turned out to be a little too small for all that passion.
With visitors and exhibitors unanimously asking for more, BFF went bigger in 2026, moving to the spacious, light-filled hall at Be-Here. For BFF, it was love at first sight.
BFF is our chance to come together with kindred spirits: guaranteed 100% lovers of all things thread and yarn. It’s where we learn new techniques, explore uncharted creative territory and embark on daring upcycling adventures. Finally, a place of our own, where our love of handmade can flourish freely, right in the heart of Brussels.
BFF is also home to a few wonderfully quirky ideas of our own:
– a big second-hand textile collection, giving several cubic metres of unused materials a new lease of life at every edition
– a red-carpet-style photobooth to capture your handmade outfits
– talks and workshops to take your skills further
– a delicious selection of local food, all about the joy of eating well
A word of warning, though: BFF is responsible for 157,653 new creative projects dreamed up in notebooks, minds or craft bags. You’ve been warned.
And the hardest part afterwards? Waiting for the next edition. The good news: it looks like BFF is here to stay, and we can’t wait to write the next chapter with you.
